This practical advanced training is for groups of up to 20 staff with a focus on child and adolescent resilience.​​​​ - Delivered as a pre-structured course with flexible delivery and providing an advanced level of practical skills, knowledge and understanding. Based on 'what works' on an individual and whole community level, this training will enable you and your team to build the resilience of children and adolescents so they can connect and thrive. 

 

This training provides an in-depth and practical exploration of child and adolescent resilience, including the practical application of The Resilience Doughnut with individuals and groups, all within the context of a your setting. There are opportunities to connect what you learn to your practice throughout.

Who is this training for?

​This training offers flexibility in delivery, to meet the needs of your organisation.

You can run this practitioner training as:

  • 8 two-hour face-to-face modules over a year. - Perfect as a series of shorter sessions. (recommended).

  • As bespoke mixture of full day, half day and two hour face-to-face sessions over any duration. - Whatever suits your organisation.

Solution Foucused Resilience  - Pt 1

Participants are introduced to the process of resilience through The Resilience Doughnut, learn how resilience within individuals is built and recognise the features of a resilient community. 

Post-Module Reflection

Reflect on how your understanding of resilience has changed and how this may impact on your practice. 

Participants start to practice the art of solution-focused conversations, within the application of The Resilience Doughnut, facilitating enhanced resilience. -  Essential for facing the challenges of daily life.

Script and practice a conversation you intend to have with an individual.

Resilience - A Universal Approach

Participants explore the practical application of The Resilience Doughnut as a universal tool for all children and adolescents, including the facilitation with individuals and small groups.

Post-Module Application

Plan and facilitate The Resilience Doughnut with a small group. Option to apply the Resilience Report.

Participants are introduced to a proven way of helping children and adolescent overcome a whole range of difficulties by empowering them to find their own solutions, when faced with challenges.

Strengths-Based Practice

Bringing together their understanding of The Resilience Doughnut and solution focused resilience, participants get hands on with The Resilience Doughnut as a practical tool for working with children and adolescents experiencing challenge, adversity, trauma and transitions.

Post-Module Application

Plan and facilitate The Resilience Doughnut with an individual. Option to apply the Resilience Report.

Participants explore the positive impact of strengths-based practice, accentuating the strengths within individuals to achieve positive outcomes.

Post-Module Reflection

Reflect on how you, your colleagues and community use strengths-based practice successfully and what opportunities there are to influence deficit-based practice.

Resilient Thinking

Skills for Resilience

2 Hours

Participants take a closer looks at core thinking skills associated with resilience. They explore how each thinking skill relates to The Resilience Doughnut before practicing simple strategies to promote more resilient thinking habits; through our everyday interactions and through structured activities.

Post-Module Application

Practice spotting resilient thinking when in conversation with children, adolescents and colleagues and practice helping others shift towards more resilient thinking through your conversation tools.

This module takes a closer looks at the essential skills for resilience including empathy and self-efficacy. Participants explore how each skill relates to The Resilience Doughnut before practicing simple strategies to promote their growth; through our everyday interactions and through structured activities.

Reflect, Evaluate and Plan

1 Hour

During this 30 minute online session you will discuss progress following the previous modules.​ This online session is delivered twice during the training. 

This online session gives you the opportunity to reflect on the training, your progress and its application into your practice and consider your best hopes for the next stage of your work with child and adolescent resilience. There is also the option to use the Resilience Report to measure and evaluate impact of targeted application of The Resilience Doughnut with one or more individuals.
